STUDY IN JAPAN

LONG-TERM COURSE

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER?

WHAT IS YOUR AIM?

Are you planning to get into a Japanese university, a technical school? Or do you just want to improve your Japanese?
This is important because it will affect your decision on which school/course should you apply for. For example, if you have graduated from university and your intention is only to level up your Japanese, then it may not be necessary to choose a school that focuses on getting into Pre-U courses or EJU.

CURRENT JAPANESE LEVEL

Have you studied Japanese before? Have you passed any JLPT in the past 2 years?
Your current Japanese level will help determine how much longer do you need before you can fulfill the requirement to be able to apply for university/technical school, or provide an estimation on which level could you achieve by the end of the course.

WHAT HAVE YOU COMPLETED/ACHIEVED SO FAR?

Have you completed 12 years of formal education required by the Japanese education system? Are you a university graduate?
Why is this crucial? For example, you are not eligible to apply for university or most technical schools by completing up till Form 5 only (or you completed Form 6 but have never studied Japanese before). On the other hand, a bachelor's degree would be considered the minimum requirement for those intending to work in Japan.
